Jobs and Skills for Regional SA

Project launched to better understand the demand and need for jobs in regions

The Department of State Development has embarked on a project to better understand and respond to industry demand and individual need for regional jobs and skills.

Stakeholder engagement activities are underway across South Australia’s non-metro regions including:

  • workshops with training providers, contractors and other key stakeholders
  • focus groups with jobseekers and specific groups of jobseekers
  • events for employers
  • stakeholder interviews and meetings
  • online engagement through surveys and discussion forums.

So far 30 engagement activities have been undertaken with over 1,000 people.

Outcomes of engagement activities will include:

  • creation of a Workforce Development Plan for each region outlining strategies to address skills, training and employment challenges and opportunities
  • tailored initiatives that meet demand and deliver improved outcomes for individuals, employers and communities.
