Jobs and Skills for Regional SA

Understanding demand and need for jobs in regions

To better understand and respond to industry demand and individual need for regional jobs and skills, the Department of State Development has undertaken an extensive stakeholder engagement project that has included:

  • 100 initial engagement events with 1360 people
  • over 750 jobseekers, employers and community members completing a survey
  • nine major workshops with 220 people to inform responses for skills, training and employment challenges and opportunities.

Responses that emerged from the major workshops are informing the development of regional Skills and Employment Plans 2018/19 to 2020/21 with short, medium and long-term strategies. Regional Managers are developing Local Action Plans to be implemented this financial year, to address short term demand and need identified through the engagement process.
